Developing nuclear weapons and power chains has always been a part of a global network of colonial operations. By showcasing the narratives from uranium mines in the Southwestern United States and second-generation atomic bomb survivors in Nagasaki, I will demonstrate the wide-ranging and long-lasting effects of the nuclear fuel chain. I will emphasize the importance of listening to survivors’ experiences with a mindset of empathy, care, and justice, and of collectively continuing to work towards peace.

Imari Yasuno from Nagasaki, Japan, is pursuing an MA in Cultural Anthropology at Uppsala University. She holds a BA in Social Welfare (Doshisha University) and in Anthropology (Amherst College), along with extensive experience in anti-nuclear activism and dialogue workshops for peacebuilding in Japan and the US.
